I just had to post this.
I was trying to tell everyone about these great VW commercials; but as usual I was terrible at trying to convey their supremacy. This is the third in a series starring Peter Stormare, stellar bad guy in movies like "Fargo" and "The Big Lebowski." At the very least, it can help GCI with its German accent for future rounds of "Accent Roller Coaster."
Still more stuff from this past weekend!
A yawning MIKE is up early and ready to give 90.5 fm some lovin.' While waiting to go on the air, the fine folks at "The Only Station that Matters" had us wait in this room with all these fabulous drawings done by kids. (For those of you who don't know, WBER is a boces-run program with an interesting history. a sort-of "little-guy-does-good" kinda thing. Buy me a beer at Lux and I'll tell you all about it. And all about how I still like Tony Stewart even though he's been a dork so far this year.)

More behind-the-scenes stuff, courtesy of Kevin.
KEVIN again had his all-access pass to GCI's shows this weekend, and here are his pics of us warming up down in The Nextstage dressing room, getting ready to give it to the R-O-C.
BRIAN, charming.
BEKI, delightful.
SWITHUN and MIKE, fabulous.
Face it, our krewe just has more fun that yours. But the best part is, your krewe can roll with us anytime it wants. Bad boys for life.

Mykonos Cafe has many things for improvisors to eat.
More pics from this weekend's Theatre Sports shenanigans! After Saturday's show, a bunch of us -- you know, the cool ones -- went out to Mykonos Cafe, the Official Geva Comedy Improv Post-show Eatery! And as always, by "Official Geva Comedy Improv Post-show Eatery," we mean that it's the place we settled on going to.
ADAM arrives, and the masses are pleased.

MOOKIE is in his "delighted to suspiciously questionate at you" mood.

Barprov -- conversational improv -- debuts February 24th!
Theatre Sports will be the name of the games on Friday February 24th and Saturday February 25th! After Theatre Sports on Friday Night, you'll be able to see GCI's newest format! Barprov is Geva Comedy Improv's first foray into the improvisational theatre format known as conversational improv. The improvisors will bartend -- really truly bartend with drinks and everything -- in the Cafe at Geva Theatre Center for a limited number of 21-and-over guests. Throughout the show, they will also explore current events, personal histories, perhaps even offer the audience that sage bartender advice that people go to bars for. Similar shows -- Bassprov in Chicago and Dinerprov in Atlanta -- have found devoted fans, and now Geva Comedy Improv wants to let Rochester see what conversational improv is all about!

From Season II -- Jailbreak, Shakespearean-style!
All right, this one -- from last season -- needs a little explaining. April 23rd is Shakespeare's birthday. We decided to perform an improv Shakespeare movie, where we made up a courtroom drama but were interrupted every now and then by a wheel of Shakespearean conventions (Dad's lent us Mr. Tim Stoltenberg to host). So here, in the second act, Stoltenberg calls out to Mookie and Brian for a jailbreak of Brutus, played by Charlie. What the audience (and some of us) didn't know was that the cast of Hamlet, having just finished their show nextdoor on the mainstage, decided to bumrush our show. It was awesome. Some notable people: the first guy out is Skip Greer who played Hamlet's dad; he is the head of Geva's education department and a stand-up fella. The gentleman who comes over to the right of the screen and begins to point? That's Jordan Charney as Polonius, who, among other things, played Dean Yeager in Ghostbusters ("You are a poor scientist, Dr. Venkmann."). And the girl who rushes in front of the camera is Lori Prince, a Geva fave who played Ophelia. This video proves two things. One: we have more fun than you can possibly imagine, and two? We need to find a better way to tape these things.

Power Food
Sometimes people will ask us where we get our ideas. Other times, fans will inquire whether we hang out together outside of improv to help foster group mind. Lastly, humans have been known to query which rock albums we think really stink. However, there has been a sad lack of communication about what Geva Comedy Improv eats before their shows to give them comic goodness, energy and that pine-fresh scent.
Ladies & Gentlemen: I SHALL REVEAL THE SECRET.
LO, many years ago, in the hall of goodness, Mr Geva had a vision. He dreamt of a food so tasty that it would cause many diseases and be badmouthed around schools and laundrymats across the country. AND WOE, the food did taste good. AND YEA, Mr Geva was unshaven. AND LO, it was good.
The secret of Mr Geva's creation, his instruction, his dedication and his invocation of deliciousness was embodied on a mere earth creature so powerful we dare not speak it's full name. AND YET, one was captured. AND NEH, the powers that were Nellis Presley could not slay the beast. SO, GCI lay in wait for the day and time of the sacrifice. UNTIL one day. UNTIL yesterday. UNTIL....

Rehearsal, post-rehearsal.
CHARLEY gets comfy at ACME, the official post-rehearsal food station. And by "official post-rehearsal food station," we mean it's the place we ended up after rehearsal.
