Tonight - PARROT THEATRE!

What a show last night! Catch-23 Improv's debut was met by a crowd that was more raucous than the Italian soccer fans...after Adam was scum-bibbed out of the match (in the first half!) for breaking GCI's pg-13 rule, Brian used some quick thinking after the break and did a scene with an audience member. Thankfully, the helpful, rather "inconspicuous" fellow above was just the right type of audience volunteer Brian needed!

Thanks to everyone that came out...what a night! Tonight the hilarity continues with PARROT THEATRE, where the improvisors direct each other in scenes started by suggestions from YOU! The Seneca Park Zoo's Zoo Mobile will be on hand, and Minnow, the talking African Grey Parrot, will be on hand to preside over the festivities! $7! Cheaper than a movie! More fun than a locomotive! It's Geva Comedy Improv!

Then we head out to 90.5 fm WBER for a 7:15 am appointment with The Friday Morning Show crew. Tune in! Tape it! Replay it for your friends and fish while you're away!

The Night the Lights Went out at Summer Curtain Call!

Another year, another Summer Curtain Call out at Geva Theatre Center. Fancy people and celebrities abounded at this annual fundraiser for the best theatre in Western New York. And then we got there. We performed and got auctioned off to JAMES CERONE! Thanks for helping Geva Comedy Improv and Geva Theatre Center, Mr. Cerone!

THE GANG hangs out after the evening. Then the lights went out.

SWITHUN does his best LOUIS JORDAN.

LEAH (c) gets ready for an evening of fanciness.

Next weekend - shows of magnificent magnitude!

Man, are we excited about our next round of shows! Friday the 23rd we're trying out a new Theatre Sports format called CATCH-23! Three teams will compete; each gets four scenes to perform, and the scenes all have to amount to 23 minutes! A night like none other in Geva Comedy Improv history!

And Saturday the 24th? Well, we've got a little surprise on Saturday, thanks to our friends out at Seneca Park Zoo! MINNOW, their African Grey Parrot (who looks a little like the fella to the left) will be the Grand Marshall of PARROT THEATRE - where the improvisors direct each other in scenes based on suggestions from YOU! Decide whether they deserve ribbons or forfeits!

Bollywood Goodness

Geva Comedy Improv has learned a lot from Bollywood films (The first link below is from Gumnaam and the second is Janwaar both are from sometime in the sixties). The first lesson is steal from the best. The makers of Janwaar decided that if they were going to steal, they might as well steal from the Beatles. That's why we at GCI scour the globe for great improv talent like Iron Cobra, Dad's Garage or Rapid Fire Theatre and steal as much from them as possible. Some might call this process learning, but stealing sounds more Oceans 11 and less Revenge of the Nerds.

The second lesson from Bollywood is to wrap it up with a big song and dance number.

The third lesson is to wear weird masks.

That concludes your lesson...um...shoplifting session for today.
