Mookie - drove to MN, flew to NY, spend Christmas with parents, flying to MN, driving back NY. (mainly sitting in airports & driving in white-out conditions -- yahoo.)
ReplyDeleteTim -- I sat in the airport for eight hours trying to get to Salt Lake City, but eventually found out that my flight to Cincinnatti -- where my connection to Salt Lake was -- got cancelled.
ReplyDelete"There is a flight to Cincinnatti," the lady said into the p.a., "but there are no connecting flights, and there are no hotel rooms available. You can go to Cincinnati, but, well...you'll be in Cincinnatti."
So all the flights started getting cancelled right and left. I stood in a line for three hours trying to find another flight, trying to remain zen about it all, especially when someone ahead of me really leaned into the girl working the counter.
"Well, what's your company going to do for me, since I can't get a flight?" The girl offered a refund, he took it, and then gave her a few lines of very un-holiday-y dialogue. Hey, buddy, Delta can't control the weather.
So Christmas Eve was a wash, and I decided to come here, to Pennsylvania instead -- I drove down this morning -- and stay with my parents. We're watching HARRY POTTER abd the PRISONER of AZKABAN as I type.
Tim, your last message has me totally baffled!!! Snow hold-ups??? I guess I'm only concious of the Rochester weather, we had a Green Christmas!!!! How did we miss out, of all places?!?!?
ReplyDeletemaking gratutious use of exclamation points,
NELLIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's "gratutious?"
ReplyDeleteIt involves a lack of sleep and long hours at work
ReplyDeleteTim,
ReplyDeleteI feel your lack of flight pain. I drove through Ohio on the way out to MN (eek, that was tough) and then I was _supposed_ to flight out of Cleveland on my way back. By Noon on Christmas Eve we realize that not only is my 11 AM flight still not on it's way out, but the 7 AM one is still awaiting takeoff. So, instead they sent me to Northwest and amazingly they had a direct Minneapolis-Rochester 6:50 pm (which was bumped back two hours eventually) flight which I got on. They even let me sit in "first class" (ie, the front row) so I got cheesecake. Mmmmm, love that cheesecake!
Sorry to hear about Utah madness. Boo!
